Games you played in the past

The team decided to go out and ask people to share the games they played in the past and no longer play today but miss. This brought back so many memories for Natarah - she shares her favorite childhood game with us.

‘I used to love playing on swings when I was little.

My uncle had a set of swings in his backyard and my cousins and I would compete to see who could go higher.

I was a child who also loved going on the 'fast' rides at the funfair (I actually still do). So I wasn't bothered by speed or heights, I was a real thrill-seeker!

The seats of these swings were just flat planks, with no safety bars, so you could hop on and off easily. Basically, if we wanted to get on the swing, we didn't need to get help from an adult.

I remember I decided to practice one day when no one was around. Big mistake.

I thought that if I tried really hard, with all my might, I would be able to jump off the swing in mid-air and fly over a nearby wall. I got on the swing and took off.

I moved my legs and upper body with such skill that I managed to go higher than I'd ever gone before. When the moment came for me to jump off the swing, I didn't hesitate.

I actually should have, just to calculate the distance I needed to go. I flew into the air momentarily before landing bum first in my aunt's rosebush. That was the last day I played on the swings at their house.'
