According to the Municipality's France Zama, the shutdown is due to maintenance work being conducted.
He says residents from low-lying areas are receiving water at a low pressure while high lying areas do not have any water.
However, the municipality says it has sent out water tankers to assist residents in need.
Areas affected include Gamalakhe, Murchison, Shelly Beach, Margate and Uvongo as well as the area between Hibberdene and Ramsgate.
Zama says residents need to remember to stock up on water, adding tomorrow will be the last of the planned shutdown.
"We want to thank them for co-operating. We are all doing this in order to make sure that we enhance the manner in which we supply our water especially since we have identified that there is an increase in terms of water demand with the Ugu District," he said.
