Sfiso Ncwane remembered as humble, a people's person
An employee of the record company owned by gospel star, Sfiso Ncwane, has spoken of the late singer's humility - despite being famous.
Asanda Mhayise was speaking at the memorial service of the gospel singer taking place at the eThekwini Community Church in Durban.
The KZN singer died from kidney failure at a Johannesburg hospital on Monday.
Mhayise says Sfiso also valued people's opinions, and didn't let fame go to his head.
"He was the kind of person who - before releasing a song - would call his team and say please listen to this and give me honest feedback. He would make sure that his work was done properly. He also wasn't a celebrity - he would greet everyone in public and even go as far as waiting in queues along with others at the mall," he said.
Meanwhile, a well-known KZN media personality who worked with Ncwane - has taken a swipe at the media at the singer's memorial service.
Radio host, Linda Sibiya, said Ncwane's family should be left alone.
"Sfiso is gone so let him rest in peace. Enough is enough as we speak - there are journalists here who have a scoop and can't wait until the funeral is over. Some are waiting to hear Sfiso's car is being repossessed while others are waiting for his house to be taken by the bank. Others are waiting to write about how Anyanda has a new man in her life," he said.
