Service delivery suffers as Ugu District staff protest
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Ugu District Municipality is battling to operate efficiently with a number of staff engaging in what it says are illegal and unprotected protests during working hours.
It says over the past three to four weeks, some staff members have been abandoning their posts, opting to rather picket at various times during office hours.
The municipality's France Zama says while their issues vary, they have found a number of staff prefer to encourage others to also partake in the protests, instead of bringing up their grievances to management.
Zama says the municipality is aware of the vital role workers play in the provision of uninterrupted services to the community.
