President to speak at KZN ANC conference

African National Congress' KwaZulu-Natal Secretary Sihle Zikalala says they will not allow the party's Provincial Conference to be characterized by incidents which undermine the integrity of the ANC.

The three-day event, which was expected to get underway shortly after nine has been delayed as the 1 300 voting delegates due to attend are still slowly making their way to the hall at the Pietermaritzburg.
Zikalala, who is going head to head with Senzo Mchunu for the position of the provincial chairman says when the official opening eventually begins, it will be conducted by ANC National Chairperson Baleka Mbete.
"We'll have a provincial report by the Provincial Chairperson. We hope to have credentials, and then have an organisational and financial report. In the afternoon, we'll have the president's address. After the president, I believe we'll go to the electoral commission - which will present nominations," he said.
