Premier Mchunu hits out at Malema
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
KZN premier Senzo Mchunu has condemned the EFF's statement that it will remove the government through the barrel of a gun.

Mchunu made the comment at the province's Freedom Day celebrations in Peacetown near Ladysmith yesterday.
EFF leader Julius Malema told Al Jazeera in an interview that the party would take up arms if the local government elections on August 3 are not free and fair.

Mchunu says freedom and democracy go hand in hand.
"We are now talking about the barrel of the ballot not of the gun. We are tired of blood, we are tired of fear and we are tired of anything that will cause anxiety among people.
"Therefore we believe the people of KwaZulu-Natal must condemn this statement," he said.
Mchunu says calling for the removal of a sitting president through violence is opportunistic, reckless and shows immaturity.
