Political instability, 'Sars Wars' negatively affecting Rand: Economist
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
An economist says there is no knowing for certain what the Rand's next move will be - after it hit a one-month low of around 14.25 to the US Dollar yesterday.

The uncertainty has been brought on mainly by recent developments around Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and an investigation by the Hawks into a so-called SARS Rogue Unit which was formed when he was the commissioner at the revenue service.
Gordhan was this week summoned by the unit for a warning statement - but he did not present himself yesterday saying he had been informed that the charges had no legal basis.
Economist Graeme Kerner says we are in a vulnerable situation right now.
He suggests that further political instability is worrying, as it could undo all the gains the Rand had made in recent weeks.
