Man receives six life terms for family murder
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The National Prosecuting Authority in KwaZulu-Natal says they hope that the harsh sentencing of a man convicted of the murder of his sister and her five children in 2012 – will serve as a deterrent to other would-be offenders.

25-year-old Tsepang Solomon Mokhali appeared in the Durban High Court yesterday, where he was sentenced to six life terms for the killings – which took place in Inanda, in December 2012.
Before the sentencing, the court heard how Mokhali shot and stabbed his pregnant sister 78 times, before chasing her five children – aged between 3 and 12 – into a bathroom, and stabbing them to death.

He was also accused of robbing his sister of R11 000, and a cellphone.
Another child – aged around one at the time – was unharmed during the killing spree.
The NPA’s Natasha Kara says the Director of Public Prosecutions in KZN has welcomed the sentencing.
"The accused was sentenced to six terms of life imprisonment, as well as 12 years imprisonment for robbery," she said.
