'I just cocked my gun and shot him': Durban man who shot dead robber

The man who shot dead an armed suspect on Bellair Road in Durban this morning has described the drama as something out of a movie.

34-year-old Senzo Gwabuzela from Cato Manor says he kept thinking about his children as the suspects approached him, one of them pointing a gun at his face.


Gwabuzela, who has two homes in Umlazi and Cato Manor, says he was warned that some men had been looking at the car he left at his Cato Manor house.

He says he drove from Umlazi to pick up the car and park in at a nearby filling station where there is security.


Gwabuzela says as he was walking back to his home he was approached by the suspects and one pulled out a gun on him.


Gwabuzela says his licensed firearm is now in the possession of police. An inquest docket has been opened.
