It's believed three men entered the store shortly after it had opened for business - taking two boxes of jewellery before fleeing the scene in a grey BMW.

Marshall Security's Kyle van Reenen was on the scene and says the robbers' getaway car was reported hijacked in Berea on Monday.

''Three armed man stormed into a jewellery store fleeing with an undisclosed amount of jewels as well as cash, allegedly firing a shot at onsite security.

''The description of the vehicle is given out to our reaction officers in the area and in within 20 minutes the vehicle was found to have been abandoned on Umhlanga Boulevard,'' he said.

While staff at the premises were left shaken, no one was injured during the robbery.

It's the second such incident at a Durban shopping centre in recent weeks.

Earlier this month robbers targeted Beverley Jewellers at the Pavilion, making off with jewellery after they didn't find any money in the store.
