South Africa's unemployment rate has increased to 25.5% in the third quarter of the year.

Statistics South Africa says this is up from the second quarter rate of 25% but better than the first quarter rate of 26.4%.
It says the third quarter Quarterly Labour Force Survey shows the working-age population was 36.1 million of which 15.8 million were employed, 5.4 million unemployed and 14.9 million not economically active.
Stats SA's Kefiloe Masiteng, explains.
"We have also seen that there's been growth in the total number of people who are in the working age to about 36.1-million. We have about 5.4-million people that have been unemployed. That is the number that has contributed to the 25.5% of unemployment rate recorded,"she said.
