Dad plans party for kids who have never been to one

This dad of three has a heart of gold!

An Australian TV personality is turning his birthday party into a big bash for children who have never been to one.

Andrew 'Cosi' Costello was so touched by a mother’s story about her 12-year-old son, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, not being invited to birthday parties that he decided to make his dream come true.

He says he got the idea for his open invite birthday party after hosting a charity event six months ago.

“A mother got up and spoke bravely about her sons battle with MD and the issues it caused him and their family. But it's how she finished her selfless talk that haunts me. She said: ‘Do you know the hardest thing about my 12 year old boy having MD?’. I was thinking she'd say the sleepless nights, the extra workload as a parent, the 24/7 care but no. She said ‘For years I've picked him up from school and I've seen all the other kids tearing around waving birthday party invitations yet never once in his life has my child been invited to anyone's birthday party’. Well you could have knocked me off my chair with a finger,” Andrew said in a Facebook post.

The woman’s heart-breaking story caused the father of three to rethink his plans for his December birthday.

He has decided to throw the “biggest birthday party ever” at Adelaide Zoo on December 17.

Andrew is inviting 100 children who have never been to a birthday party before to the bash.

The children’s families also get to tag along on the day.

That is sure to be one memorable birthday party.
