The Drive team wins the Juiciest Kaboom title!
Updated | By Staff Writer

Willard Beach was jam packed with locals and holidaymakers who took part in the various exciting activities on offer. From sandcastle building to sweet stuffing contests to beach volleyball and touch rugby to dance contests and beach dashes, there was something for absolutely everyone!
After months of practice sessions, consults with dive experts and gathering intel on each other, it was down to the wire for presenters Damon Beard and Alain Tardin.
The two have been competing for the Juiciest Kaboom! title. Alain, who in addition to having his own show also does the sport on East Coast Breakfast, stepped in for Darren Maule after ECR management ruled it would be too “dangerous” to unleash a semi-clad Darren on the beaches. (Darren stripped down to his undies for Toy Story last year and those who witnessed the spectacle have sadly never been the same).
Alain clinched the title when the Maynards Beach Festival with East Coast Radio kicked off in Margate last week (19 December 2014) but Damon won the Durban leg at uShaka Beach on Sunday. At 1-all, it was down to a nail-biting finish. In the end the Juicy Kaboom! crown went to Damon and listener Kayleigh Tomich who made up Team Red Teddies. Kayleigh also won R5000 and a year’s supply of Maynards sweets.
The Festival kicked off in Margate last week, before moving to Durban’s uShaka Beach.
All the action wraps up at Willard Beach today.
