Don't hire without background checking employee
A South African security company is warning home owners to vet anyone doing work on their property.
ADT Security says a little research is needed before someone is given access to your home. They recommend starting with a criminal record check which can be obtained through the SAPS, with the potential employee or contractor’s consent. But they also suggest doing a reference check with previous employers. “Ask questions about dismissals, responsibilities, any security issues, tardiness, and so on. Their answers will give you a good idea of the person’s track record,” ADT says.

Two women was mugged in their car in central Durban by two men who pretended to be asking for directions. They'd been parked on Anton Lembede Street two Friday's ago when the two men asked how to get to Field Street. They then threatened the women with a knife and asked the one to remove her necklace, and her mom to remove her bangle. When they realized it was not gold they threw it back into the car and calmly walked away.
