Can YOU catch him?

East Coast Radio is turning 30, and one of our most legendary campaigns is back.

The Fugitive has returned - and he’s carrying ECR’s cash.

From 28 September to 16 October, The Fugitive will be moving around KwaZulu-Natal, dropping clues and doing everything he can to stay one step ahead.

Your mission?

Listen. Follow the clues. Find him. Ask the question.

And you could win your share of R400,000.

HOW TO PLAY

LISTEN

The most important clues will be revealed on East Coast Radio first.

Keep listening throughout the day because every clue could bring you closer to The Fugitive.

FOLLOW THE CLUES

Pay attention to what The Fugitive says, where he has been and where he might be heading next.

Some clues will narrow down the search. Others might send you in a completely different direction.

And remember: not everything The Fugitive says is a clue.

TRACK THE HUNT

Missed something?

Come back to this page to catch up on the latest confirmed clues, Fugitive sightings and campaign updates.

The digital trail will help you stay in the hunt, but listening to East Coast Radio gives you the advantage.

  1. FIND HIM

Think you know where he is?

Get there and find him in person.

The Fugitive will only be positioned in safe, publicly accessible locations around KZN.

ASK THE QUESTION

Finding him isn’t enough.

To make the capture official, you need to ask:

“Are you the East Coast Radio Fugitive?”

If you’ve found the real Fugitive, you could walk away with the cash.

R400,000 IS UP FOR GRABS

Across the three-week hunt, listeners will have the chance to win their share of half a million rand.

And the longer The Fugitive manages to stay hidden, the more intense the hunt becomes.

When he is caught, that chapter of the chase ends - but The Fugitive isn’t finished.

He escapes again.

A new hunt begins.

And KZN gets another chance to catch him.

KEEP YOUR EARS OPEN

The Fugitive doesn’t always play by the rules.

He could interrupt a show.

He could call a presenter.

He could respond to something listeners have said.

And from time to time, you may even hear a song “brought to you by The Fugitive.”

There’s no schedule for those moments.

That’s the point.

You never quite know when he’s going to show up.

HOW DO I KNOW IT’S AN OFFICIAL CLUE?

Listen for the official Fugitive clue sound.

That tells you new information has been released and the hunt has moved forward.

A Fugitive appearance, joke, call, interruption or sighting does not automatically mean there is a new clue.

So listen carefully.

SPOTTED THE FUGITIVE?

Think you’ve seen him?

Tell us.

Send in your sightings, theories and voice notes and follow what the rest of KZN is saying as the hunt unfolds.

But remember: A sighting doesn’t win the money.

You have to physically find The Fugitive and ask the official question to make the capture.

Ts and Cs apply.

30 YEARS. BECAUSE OF YOU.

The Fugitive’s return forms part of East Coast Radio’s 30th birthday celebrations.

For three decades, ECR has been there for KZN’s mornings, school runs, road trips, big moments, favourite songs and everyday memories.

This birthday isn’t only about us.

It’s about the people who made those 30 years possible.

Our listeners. Our communities. Our clients. Our people. KZN.

30 years of music.
30 years of memories.
30 years of KZN.
Because of You.

And now, we’re making another memory together.
