We knew cooking oil was versatile, but not this versatile...

When it comes to bigger picture problems in the world, like the environmental effects of using fuel or cotton, we have to agree that people who come up with sustainable energy sources are geniuses.

It's just amazing. What's more amazing is hearing about a super jumbo airplane completing a three-hour flight with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Sounds pretty basic but it's definitely not...

Here we are grounding our planes due to maintenance issues, whilst "on March 25th an A380 Super jumbo Airbus airplane completed a three-hour flight from Blagnac Airport in Toulouse -- Airbus' French headquarters powered by Sustainable Aviation Fuel." (Instagram)

What's more is that SAF is said to be predominantly made of used cooking oil and waste fats.

Check out this short video explaining it in more detail. Courtesy of YouTube:

"The testing has been ongoing in the past year—with an A350 being tested in March 2021, and an A319neo single-aisle aircraft flying on cooking oil in October." (Instagram)

The airbus aircraft is currently able to be powered by 50% of sustainable aviation fuel with a mix of traditional kerosene.

Many people came to the post to share their comments (most of them silly).

One person said: "Well then, we need to eat more fried food to save the planet." (Instagram)

Whilst another said: "So does this mean the air will smell like French fries from now on? Asking for a friend..." (Instagram)
