"Should I bring this up considering what she went through or just do it myself and risk having her feel left out?"

Every week on #AskAParent, we get all kinds of emails with parenting questions.

Some are funny and lighthearted, but today we are dealing with something very serious.

A listener wrote to us about her friend who had a miscarriage while they were both pregnant.

Miscarriage can often lead to depression and if that is something that you’re going through, just know that you’re not alone.

It is common to experience feelings of sadness, guilt, and anxiety about future pregnancies.

If this is something that you’re currently going through, please call the South African Depression and Anxiety Group’s Mental health line on 011 234 4837 - they offer 24hr support to anyone who needs it.

You can also visit their website on http://www.sadag.org/ for more information.

Now here is Anonymous’ dilemma.

Hi Vic

Thank you for the really great show, you always keep us entertained.

I’d like to be anonymous for this one for reasons that will soon become obvious to you.

So, I am 7 months pregnant and going to become a mother for the first time.

Oddly enough my best friend and I fell pregnant around the same time and we were enjoying our journey to motherhood together.

Unfortunately, about six weeks ago she had some complications that lead to a miscarriage.

When we first fell pregnant she and I had promised to organise each other’s baby showers.

I’m not sure whether I should bring this up considering what she went through or just do it myself and risk having her feel left out. What should I do?

Anonymous in Stanger.

Should Anonymous ask her friend who recently had a miscarriage to still organise her baby shower or just do it herself and risk her feeling left out?
