Learners' hope restored thanks to KZN Fashion Council
Updated | By Damon Beard
After a piece of their education was snatched from them, the Sibusisiwe Comprehensive Technical School was left devastated until they were rescued by the KZN Fashion Council. The perfect feel-good story ahead of Youth Day.

The Principle of the Sibusisiwe Comprehensive Technical School, Mr Khomo, popped into East Coast Radio to tell us about his school and his learners.
Boasting a small computer centre which they’re extremely proud of, the school attempted to do a small revamp of the centre and moved the laptops into another of their classrooms for temporary storage.
As luck would have it, there was a break in and the computers were stolen, leaving the devastated learners unable to write exams.

Dr Joy Ndlovu (Interim MD) and Arlene Moodley (Executive for Operations and Services) from the KZN Fashion Council (KZNFC) heard about the school's plea and immediately jumped on board to help with the sponsorship of six laptops for the school.
The KZNFC is a not-for-profit company that was established in 2009 by the eThekwini Municipality’s Economic Development Unit (EDU) and the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development and Tourism (KZNEDTEA).
The KZNFC supports fashion designers to become competitive nationally and globally through various interventions. The various strategic programmes include market intelligence, networking and industry meetings, business and technical skills training, fashion design mentorship, and market access platforms.
The objectives of the KZNFC are very much aligned to the framework for the establishment of a National Fashion Council, which was launched in December 2011.
