A company in China makes women 'apply' to have children

A company in China has sparked a huge debate on social media after it revealed that their female staff apply to have children.

Often, when a couple decides to have a baby, it is a very long thought process, where the couple susses out how much time, money and emotional investment they can give to their new born.

But now, women at a business in Changchun City, Jilin Province in China, are now required to tell their bosses a year in advance that they’re planning on having a baby.

According to a report published in the Chinese “New Culture” newspaper, managers at the unnamed business hope that making a “timetable” for maternity leave will prevent them from being short staffed. I wonder if the bosses can refuse your request for having a baby?

The firm’s HR head said that China’s new two-child policy has left them somewhat helpless in the face of baby boom because some employees had decided that they wanted to take advantage of the policy and have another child. “We have to consider the overall interests of the enterprise” she said.

A lot of people have said that the measure is necessary and practical and saying that limitations on pregnancy would be good.

Ladies, how would you feel if you had to “apply for pregnancy” from your boss?
