These KZN schools rank among the world’s finest
KwaZulu-Natal is making global headlines as four private schools rank among the best in the world on the 2026 Spear’s Schools Index.

This is the kind of list where blazers look sharper, traditions run deep, and alumni networks could probably get you a meeting with… anyone.
KZN didn’t just show up, we owned the guest list. The KZN schools flying the flag high are:
Joining them is Western Province Preparatory School from the Western Cape; but let’s be honest, this is very much a KZN flex.
What makes these schools world-class?
According to The South African, this isn’t just about acing exams (although, let’s not pretend they don’t do that too).
The Spear’s index looks at the full package:
- Reputation (aka “your school name opens doors”)
- Culture (traditions, values, that whole Hogwarts-but-real vibe)
- Networks (future CEOs, leaders, game-changers sitting in your class)
- Student experience (because school shouldn’t feel like a punishment)
Basically, it’s about raising well-rounded humans who can walk into any room in the world and belong there.

What makes this even cooler is these schools are ranked alongside global heavyweights like Eton College in the UK and Harvard-Westlake School in the United States.
This isn’t just a win for a few schools, it’s a massive moment for KZN.
It says that right here, between the Midlands mist and Durban’s coastline, we’re producing world-class education that can go toe-to-toe with the best out there.
