16-year-old Shreeya Subbiah is making her mark in SA cricket
The young cricketer joined J Sbu and Nick Tatham on East Coast Drive to talk about her journey from the Chatsworth Cricket Hub to representing the South African Under-19 women’s team.
At just 16 years old, Shreeya Subbiah is already building an impressive name for herself in South African cricket.
For Shreeya, reaching this level has taken commitment both on and off the field. Alongside the demands of training and competition, she is also navigating the challenge many young athletes face: balancing schoolwork with a growing sporting career.
More known as a powerful opening batter, Shreeya Subbiah can hold her own with ball-in-hand as well.
During the conversation, Shreeya reflected on how her cricket journey began, the work that has gone into earning her place at national level and what it means to represent South Africa while still being a teenager.
She also had an important message for other young girls who may be dreaming of following a similar path.
Her advice? Keep working towards the goal, believe in your ability and don’t allow your age to limit what you think is possible.
