#UnpopularOpinion: Being cyberbullied is a choice
Updated | By Damon Beard
A reader has written into Damon to explain why she feels people exaggerate online abuse.
Hi Damon
Recently I was reading an article about how cyberbullying is on the rise and I thought it was the worst thing I had ever seen.
I feel like people who complain about cyberbullying don’t want to take control fo their lives.
You can literally decide to block people or mute them using filters on your social media and move on with your life.
You can even make your online profiles private.
I’m from a generation where someone you knew could bully you daily at school and actually do something physical to you.
Why would anyone be affected by comments from random strangers on the internet when you can clap back at them or just delete your social media profiles and be at peace.
This is a generation of cry babies and I am sick of hearing about people saying they are being cyberbullied. At least take responsibility for making that choice.

Do you think being cyberbullied is a choice?
