It is a chilling story that everyone in South Africa still talks about. The beautiful Karabo Mokoena had her life tragically cut short when she was burned alive by her 27-year-old abusive boyfriend, Sandile Mantsoe.

Sandile is expected to appear in court on Wednesday, 24 May for a formal bail application.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, ANC NEC member and Minister of Women in the Presidency Susan Shabangu has come under fire for a comment that she made on eNCA's investigative programme, 'Checkpoint'. According to News24, a recent episode of the show showcased Karabo and her story.

Susan told 'Checkpoint' that because Karabo was "weak", she was a victim of abuse - making reference to the fact that because she spoke up against the abuse, she was considered as "weak".

Although many have been outraged by what the minister has said about Karabo, I personally think that what she meant was not supposed to sully her name.

In my opinion, I believe that Karabo was weak. But weak in a different aspect of the word. She didn't go into the relationship like that, but she was beaten physically and mentally into a space where she felt like there was no escape - and that eventually weakens you. That makes you tired and leaves you drained.

Sandile's behaviour devoured her strength and ultimately took the life of one beautiful 22-year-old woman.

Phat Joe and Mags were completely shocked by the comments made and decided to put it out to KZN to find out what they thought about it. Listen to the reactions below:
