Last Friday, The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin passed away at the age of 76.

The 'Respect' singer endured a long battle with cancer prior to her death.

Since then, musicians from all around the world have been paying tribute to Franklin for her philanthropy, as well as iconic music and voice.

From Ariana Grande belting out an emotional tribute:

To our very own Thandiswa Mazwai recalling seeing Aretha live:

An old thread showing Franklin’s most iconic wig moments also resurfaced to make us laugh during a dark time:

But the most bizarre message came from Luther Vandross. Yes, the Twitter account of the RnB singer who passed away in 2005 sent out a message of condolence.

What makes the whole thing even more bizarre is that the account is verified even though Twitter was invented a year after Vandross' died.

Safe to say, people took notice of the strange tweet and have been having fun with it:

It seems that taking over a dead person’s social media account is now an okay thing to do, just ask Robbie Malinga’s son.

Seeing this tweet made me wonder what I would want people to do with my cellphone and social media if I ever (touch wood) passed away. One thing I know for sure, I don’t want anybody reading my DMs...
