Wrapped: Durban showed up for the Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk
Durban went BIG for the 22nd Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk with 24,000 participants and a beachfront party!
What a day. What a vibe. What a turnout!
The 22nd Suncoast East Coast Radio Big Walk officially took over Durban’s promenade, and more than 24,000 walkers brought the energy from the very first step right through to the final stretch.
The route was buzzing all morning as walkers got the chance to meet their favourite East Coast Radio presenters, snap selfies and dance along the promenade.
Durbanites also got to soak up nonstop entertainment that made the walk feel more like a moving beachfront festival than a fitness event.
Along the route, the atmosphere stayed electric thanks to incredible performances from Veranda Panda, Matt Davies and Tim Lewis, the Northwood Brass Band, the Felixton College Choir, and the DGHS Drum Majorettes.
They kept the crowds hyped every step of the way.
Then came the finish line party - because Durban simply doesn't know how to do things halfway.
J Sbu and Tee Xaba hosted an unforgettable cool-down celebration that turned the finish area into a full-on party zone.
Walkers were treated to live performances from Lloyd Cele, a high-energy DJ set from J Sbu himself, and an intense-but-worth-it cool-down workout session led by Queen Fitness.
The Big Walk once again proved why it remains one of Durban’s most loved events on the calendar; from fitness fanatics chasing goals to families strolling with snacks and friend groups treating the walk like a Sunday social event.
One thing is certain: Durban understood the assignment.
