Bill Devaney planned for months to pop the question in front of his girlfriend Breanne's family during a trip to their first date spot on Lake Michigan.
Breanne's mom Eva was the only family member unaware about proposal.
So when Bill tried to set up the perfect moment by pretending they were about to take a family photo, Eva was happy to walk over to the couple.
That's when she tripped on a rock and fell face first into the sand - sending everyone into fits of laughter.
Eva remained on the ground, admitting to Buzzfeed that she didn't want to get up because she was 'laughing so hard' she was afraid she would pee her pants.
