"We haven't been home in a year and a half" - KZN listener stuck in UK

Imagine being far away from family for so long...

For anyone who was unable to have a lively festive season last year because of COVID-19, this year was the time they hoped they would finally have family and friends in their midst in December. 

Unfortunately, those hopes are on standby following the travel ban placed by the UK and other countries, blocking South Africans from entering their land(s).

The travel ban came after South African scientists and the Health Department reported the discovery of a new COVID-19 variant called, Omicron. 

We are definitely aware of how this is done for the safety of passengers and the citizens in their respective countries, but it has stopped so many people hoping to return home from making their way for a happier holiday than last year. 

For some it's weddings, family gatherings, and graduation celebrations they have had to postpone...

We were able to talk to James Howes who was born in South Africa but unfortunately cannot be with his family for a little longer as he is stuck in the UK.
