The 67th Emmy Awards have wrapped up in Los Angeles. Viola Davis made history when she took home the award for best actress in a drama series.

Viola became the first black woman to take the honour in the prestigious category. 


In an emotional acceptance speech, she took a brave stand against the lack of diverse roles on television.  


Davis, who won for her starring role in ABC's "How to Get Away with Murder," said: "The only thing that separates women of colour from anyone else is opportunity."

This guy didn't think he stood a chance and was clearly shocked when he won. 

Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage got the award for outstanding supporting actor for his role as Tyrion Lannister.

The TV series was the big winner at the Emmys, beating off competition from Mad Men and Downton Abbey. It also set a new record - winning 12 trophies - more than any other series in a single year.


"The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" bagged multiple awards. Jon who recently stepped down as host of the hit show had this to say.
