After the recent severe weather conditions left much of the North Coast with damage, videos capturing the scarred street of Chartwell Drive sent shockwaves throughout the province. 

The once bustling street is now in ruins due to the relentless downpours, leaving residents grappling with the aftermath.

This once-smooth journey now demands patience and careful navigation from visitors and residents of Umhlanga Rocks. 

Resident and chairman of this complex, Arthur Limbouris, shares that the damage is at the rear exit/entrance on Chartwell Drive.

Luckily, the front entrance on Marine Drive is for visitors, deliveries, and residents. This is is still operational, however, there are two sink holes developing just south of the entrance.

This begs the question, who is responsible for assisting with this damage? 

Arthur shares: “The Municipality is responsible for the sink hole / road repairs and reinstatement of the storm water drain. Additionally, a pipe that runs from the top in Chartwell down to Marine Drive and joins the waste water line there.”
