Winter conditions are starting to settle across KZN, with a steady improvement in fishing along the coast and inland. Notable catches include a massive 160cm kob landed off the North Coast, highlighting the quality of fish moving through the region.

Rock and surf fishing
Shad have arrived in good numbers and are providing consistent action along the coastline. Garrick are starting to show, with occasional catches reported. Anglers focusing on structure and tides are seeing the best results, with species like kob, rockcod, and bronze bream also being caught.
The North Coast continues to produce kingfish and mixed bags, while the South Coast, especially Uvongo Pier, has delivered good GT catches and increased grey shark activity.
Offshore fishing
Offshore fishing has slowed slightly, but bottom fishing remains productive with geelbek and daga salmon. The North Coast is leading with consistent snoek and the odd dorado, while Durban has produced steady catches.
Further south, conditions have been challenging, but anglers fishing favourable weather windows are still finding success.
Freshwater fishing
Cold Midlands mornings have signalled the start of the stillwater season, with trout catches improving. Fish in the 28–38cm range are being reported, with larger specimens also coming out.
River fishing has slowed post-spawn, while bass fishing remains tough and requires slower presentations in deeper water.
