Every neighbourhood has a reputation.

Some are known for their beaches. Others for their traffic.

Then there are the places where everyone knows everyone… and your business before you do.

On East Coast Breakfast, we asked listeners to give their neighbourhood an unofficial slogan.

Let’s just say… KZN absolutely delivered.

Here are some of our favourites:

Umhlanga: Where your rent has a trust fund.

Westbrook: Where dolphins are more reliable than your cellphone signal.

Westville: Pinetown, but with Woolies food.

Bluff: Truck… truck… truck… truck.

Howick: Newlywed or nearly dead.

Merebank: The only bank you can’t rob.

Hillcrest: The city in the countryside.

Verulam: Tongaat’s louder cousin.

Scottburgh: Durban after retirement.

Newcastle: KZN’s honorary Free State.

KwaMashu: Where legends are made.

Ballito: Johannesburg’s favourite suburb.

Amanzimtoti: Come for the beach, stay because of the N2 traffic.

Isipingo: Where the curry finds you before the GPS does.

Umlazi: A township? More like a city.

Newlands West: One road in, one road out… good luck.

Morningside: One street... 47 restaurants

Inanda: YOH!

Phoenix: Where every second person is either your cousin… or knows your cousin.

Pietermaritzburg: South Africa's health risk

Pinetown: CrimeTown.

Durban North: Where every dog has a better Instagram than you.

Glenwood: Coffee shops per square kilometre: 97.

Umbilo: Scumbilo

La Lucia: Umhlanga… with a gate code.

Now it’s your turn…

Which neighbourhood did we miss, and what’s its unofficial slogan?
