KZN South Coast has the fish this week
Updated | By ECR & Vinesh Soogreem
Mixed conditions haven't stopped the action along the KZN coast this week. The South Coast is delivering serious fishing with garrick, kingfish, and tuna featuring regularly. Calmer seas ahead mean another productive week is on the cards. Get the full report.
Conditions have been mixed but encouraging along the KwaZulu-Natal coastline, with shore and offshore anglers finding quality fish when weather and water conditions allow.
In the latest episode of Angler News South Africa, Vinesh Soogreem and the crew report on what's biting across the coast and inland as conditions improve.
KZN North and Central Coast fishing
The North Coast was quieter, although once the sea settled, it produced garrick, kob, shad, rockcod, and snoek, with live bait proving especially effective offshore. On the Central Coast, shad remain the dominant species, while kob, grey sharks, and geelbek have added variety both in the surf and on the deeper reefs.
KZN Midlands freshwater fishing
Recent rain and snowfall have given the Midlands a welcome boost, with trout anglers reporting improved activity and some fish exceeding 50cm. Leech, damsel, and minnow patterns continue to produce results, while Midmar Dam is delivering bass and carp. Albert Falls remains challenging, although carp and barbel are feeding well.
