McCarthy was sacked as the head coach of AmaZulu back in March last season.

This came after guiding the Premier Soccer League team to a record second position in the league.

In 2020/2021 season, he was named the South African Premier League's Coach of the Season.

The ex-forward will specialise in coaching attacking plays and positioning for strikers in the first team setup at Manchester United.

Many people on social media have taken to congratulate Benni.

Sky is happy that there's now at least someone of Benni's pedigree who will coach the strikers at the Red Devils.
