Census field workers employed by Stats SA have threatened to withdraw the remainder of their services due to a lack of payment from a temporary job described as dangerous, poorly managed, and filled with inaccurate data. 

This is as Statistics South Africa has failed to pay salaries since February to numerous recruited residents.

The e-hailing driver app Bolt says it has permanently blocked drivers who threatened and intimidated the drivers who opted to work during last week’s three-day e-hailing strike. 

Uber responded to the strike by increasing base fares for short rides but did not change its pricing model.

A paralysed man uttered his first words in months with the help of a brain implant: “I want a beer.” According to Swiss sources, he asked to listen to the band Tool and for a head massage from his mother. He also ordered curry. 

A brain implant hadn’t been tested on a “completely locked-in patient”. The possibility of it working was even unknown until recently.

Maybe there is light in the horrible Russian war tunnel: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is ready to accept a neutral status as part of a peace deal with Russia, but any agreement would have to be put to the Ukrainian people in a referendum.

Hollywood actor Tom Cruise landed at Ladysmith Airfield on Monday morning. Six helicopters and three planes, including a Boeing Stearman, arrived prior to his landing, along with crew members. 

Tom Cruise spent the day scouting out locations in the Drakensberg to shoot scenes for the new 'Mission: Impossible' movie.
