Work environments, networking, and learning are all about give and take.
When others make themselves available to participate in your research project, to answer your questions via email, or open a door that would otherwise have been closed to you, but can’t even get you to meet for a cup of tea to help them with an issue they have, word quickly gets round that you’re a taker. That’s not good for your personal brand and reputation.
