Beloved black springbok Siya dies at Kingswood Golf Estate.

Residents and visitors at Kingswood Golf Estate are mourning the loss of one of the estate’s most beloved residents.

Siya, the rare black springbok who became an iconic sight around the estate, has died at just under two years old.

Born in late 2024, Siya quickly captured the hearts of golfers, residents and wildlife lovers as he roamed freely across the estate’s fairways and open spaces.

His striking black coat and calm nature made every sighting a memorable one.

Following Siya’s death, a post-mortem examination was conducted to determine what had happened.

The examination confirmed that the young springbok died of natural causes, bringing some closure to the community that had grown attached to him.

Over the past two years, Siya became one of Kingswood’s most recognisable wildlife ambassadors, symbolising the harmony between nature and the estate’s residential and golfing environment.

Whether visitors were teeing off or simply taking a walk, spotting Siya had become a highlight of the Kingswood experience.

In a heartfelt tribute, the estate reflected on the impact he made in such a short time.

“While his time with us was far too short, the memories he created will endure, and he will be fondly remembered as a special part of the Kingswood family.”

The estate added that Siya’s passing will be deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of seeing him roam freely, saying he will be greatly missed.
