1. Piers Morgan gets dragged for his Larry King tribute
Piers Morgan received a lot of backlash over his Larry King tribute Tweet. He first Tweeted: "RIP Larry King, 87, a television legend." Shortly after, he added, "Larry King was a hero of mine until we fell out after I replaced him at CNN & he said my show was 'like watching your mother-in-law go over a cliff in your new Bentley.' (He married 8 times so a mother-in-law expert) But he was a brilliant broadcaster & masterful TV interviewer."

2. New law will require motorists to be 100% sober
According to transport minister Fikile Mbalula, a new law that will require motorists to be “100% sober” will be signed and introduced later this year. Once the law is in place, the government will have a zero-tolerance approach to alcohol consumption by drivers. If you just had one beer - straight to jail...
3. Moderna vaccine produces neutralising antibodies against new variants
On Monday, Moderna Inc announced that its COVID-19 vaccine produced virus-neutralising antibodies in laboratory tests against new coronavirus variants found in the UK and South Africa. A two-dose regimen of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is expected to be protective against emerging strains detected to date. Let's hope we can get the vaccine in South Africa as soon as possible. It's the only way to stop the pandemic for good.

4. New video game record
A video game arcade in Japan was awarded a Guinness World Record for the largest number of claw crane machine games in one venue: 477. Sega Shinjuku Kabukicho, which reopened in late December, is dedicated exclusively to claw crane machines, with sections marked off according to prize categories.

5. SpaceX sets new world record
SpaceX has set a new world record by launching the most satellites sent into space on a single rocket. Elon Musk’s company sent a grand total of 143 small satellites into orbit on board their Falcon 9 rocket on Sunday, January 24, breaking the previous record of 107 achieved by the Indian Space Research Organisation in 2017.
