SASSA's elite new grant system lets you certify from home: Everything you need to know
Updated | By Danny Guselli
South African grant beneficiaries can now complete their life certification from the comfort of their home, thanks to SASSA's new self-service digital system.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has introduced a new digital platform aimed at making life certification more accessible for social grant beneficiaries across the country.
The e-Life Certification portal is a self-service system that allows recipients to complete the mandatory certification process without visiting a SASSA office.

Why has SASSA introduced this new system?
The platform forms part of SASSA's broader effort to improve service delivery and reduce long queues at its offices. The agency operates under the guiding principle of "Paying the right social grant to the right person, at the right time and place," and this new system reflects that commitment to efficiency and accessibility.
What do beneficiaries need to use the portal?
According to the Alberton Record, beneficiaries who have access to a cellphone or similar device are encouraged to make use of the self-service portal to complete their life certification. This is a mandatory process that confirms a recipient is still alive and remains eligible to receive their social grant. The portal is accessible at any time, offering flexibility to those who are able to use it from home.
How can beneficiaries access the e-Life Certification portal?
The portal is available through the SASSA Services Portal at https://services.sassa.gov.za/portal/r/sassa/sassa/home. Beneficiaries who require additional assistance can contact SASSA directly through several channels.
What contact options are available for further assistance?
SASSA offers a toll-free helpline at 0800 60 10 11 for those who prefer to call. Alternatively, beneficiaries can reach the agency via WhatsApp on 082 054 0016 or by sending an email to [email protected]. These options ensure that support remains available to all beneficiaries, regardless of their level of digital access.
