While you may be in the mood to celebrate, don't forget to be sensible and safe when you hit the parties this New Year's Eve.

For those of you heading out to paint the town red, while we know that there's lots to celebrate, we also know that it's always good to exercise caution on one of the busiest nights of the year.

1. Settle on your transportation

Before heading out, make sure your transport is organised.

If you do not have a designated driver or someone trusted to drop you off and pick you up, make sure that you use reputable transportation.

Plan your route home, taking into account factors such as traffic, busy roads, and safer alternatives.

2. While you're out

While you are out, make sure to stick with your group. Don't leave your drinks unattended. Pace yourself, you don't want to overdo it with the drinks and miss out on the countdown.

Carry only essentials, ID, phone, bank card and limit your cash.

3. Don't overshare

Be present in the moment with your friends and family, and avoid oversharing on social media.

Remember, while you may be in high spirits, safety first.

Keep emergency numbers on speed dial and ensure your family knows your location. Share your location with someone you trust.

Try not to wear anything expensive on your night out; being flashy might attract the wrong attention.

4. Be safe

Make sure to have your safety gadgets on hand (pepper spray, mobile panic button, mini torch, whistle).

You can have fun whilst also prioritising your safety.

Happy New Year! See you in 2026!
