A woman is being hailed as a hero after rescuing a group of puppies who were dumped like trash in Italy.

It's no secret that I am a lover of animals, and I cannot handle violence and animal abuse of any kind. For me, I just cannot imagine how heartless some people can be towards animals who don't have a voice.

When I came across this story posted on UNILAD, I was outraged and wanted to find the person that dumped this litter of adorable puppies and sort them out. "Breathe Damon," I thought.

On the flip side, enter Susanna Bergamaschi whom many are calling 'an angel' for rescuing these puppies who were placed in a packet and dumped in a bush in Norma, Italy.

It is reported that she is an animal rescue volunteer, so you could only imagine how relieved I was that she found them and not anyone else. She was on a walk when she came across a dog walker who was convinced he heard strange noises coming from a nearby bush.

In the video, the puppies squeal with fear and were shaking like a leaf as the packet is opened. But to their surprise, little did they know that that was the moment that their life was going to begin.

All's well that ends well. Susanna, the good Samaritan, has taken them in her care, and they have fitted in perfectly into her life. A devastating story with a happy ending.

If you come across an abandoned animal, report it to your local SPCA. Alternatively, you can also contact the National Council of SPCAs on (011) 907 3590, or find a full list of SPCAs across SA here.
