Vegan YouTuber called out for pet fox's diet

A pet owner's job is to ensure that their pet is well-fed, healthy, and taken care of, but many have said that this woman's diet choice for her pet is borderline abuse.

A Barcelona-based vegan YouTuber, Sonia Sae, is well known online for encouraging others to live a meat and dairy-free life. She never imposes her views but rather motivates people to be healthier. However, she’s come under fire from many after it was revealed that she has placed her pet fox on a strictly vegan diet.

People have now become increasingly worried about her little Fennec fox, Jumanji, who is living a vegan lifestyle. This is very different to what his diet would have been had he lived in the wild, feasting on foods such as rodents, insects, and bugs.

Pictures and videos were uploaded on social media showing the little fox looking very thin and it seems as if other health issues such as hair loss, spontaneous convulsions, and eyesight problems have now developed due to the diet.

A Facebook user, Alice Natanya Moore, has shared a post expressing her outraged at Sonia's choice to put Jumanji on a diet, going as far as to say that it constitutes animal cruelty

'This is animal cruellty (sic) and is not ok! If you are located in Spain, please file a police report! Please note we do not wish any harm on Jumanji or Sonia! We simply want to see Jumanji in better health and being fed a species appropriate diet!', she wrote.

Sonia then clapped back and took to her Facebook page to upload videos of Jumanji running around and looking healthy in an effort to have her say on the matter.

She wrote: 'Is Jumanji “lethargic”, “slow” or “tired”? I’ll let you decide. I’ll debunk this and the rest of the lies that have been virally shared recently regarding my son’s health soon.'

After seeing it, some accused Sonia of uploading an old video to which she replied by uploading another video with a dated piece of paper on it.

I am a 'daddy' to three beautiful dogs and they are my life. As a pet owner, all I want is the best for them. I want them to be healthy, full of life, and happy.

I don't follow any special diet but even if I did, I would not make them follow it. There are many brands that have specially-designed food that is enriched with vitamins for them. I don't quite agree with her choice, but each to their own.

I'd love to get your thoughts - do you think Sonia should face some sort of punishment and should the animal perhaps be taken away from her?
