Woman arrested for calling the cops to get out of a date
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Imagine calling the cops on a first date? Eek!
Certain things regarding first-date stories cannot get more awkward than this.
Many people have devised absurd stories to get out of first dates. Getting 'cold feet' when trying something new can be stressful, and feeling afraid or nervous is natural.
But this woman went too far when she called the police and created a story to get out of her first date.
"Sumaya Thomas, 18, scheduled a romantic evening with a stranger she had matched with on a dating app, but when he arrived at her doorstep on Jun. 16. she suddenly 'got cold feet' and phoned the cops." (New York Post)

She went as far as to call the man, her first date, an "abusive ex" who was "threatening" to harm her. She even claimed that she was pregnant and the man threatened to “hit, punch, kick and stab her”.
Yikes, talk about taking it too far...
"When officers arrived at the scene, the man informed them that he had only met Thomas via a dating app approximately one week prior, providing officials with proof of messages between the pair." (New York Post)

Thomas deleted messages and claimed that they had known each other for two years. But the authorities later found out that she had lied about it. She eventually admitted that she was scared to meet him and created the story to avoid meeting him.
What a stellar first impression!
This should be included in the guidebook on how not to deal with a first date.
