What's the biggest catch you have ever had?
When it comes to fishing, we have to say that KZN is spoilt for choice. Being a fisherman can be attributed to something that runs in the blood of KZNers and is also a popular topic for many people who visit the coast.
Bagging a fish in KZN earns you high esteem in the fishing community, but more than that it is a sport that requires a sense of skill and lots and lots of patience.
When we heard this story of scientists finding this 4,000 pound (roughly around 1,800kg) Southern Sunfish (Mola Alexandrini Species) off the coast of Cueta in Spain, we thought, now this is something to see...
It is believed to weigh more or less this amount, because as they attempted to weigh it, the scale almost broke. The Sunfish was trapped and it required the cranes of two ships to help set it free.
The Mola Alexandrini are the largest bony fish in the world and that in itself makes them quite unique. We also think it's important to note that we never knew that fish could grow this big...
