Indian cinema and film is a big thing for many South Africans. They not only provide for intriguing storylines, but the actors and actresses immerse themselves so much in the roles that as a viewer, you feel like you know them personally.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, a popular Bollywood actress, mother and wife, recently released her pregnancy book that takes a look at her pregnancy and things she experienced, and also looks at things such as diet and fitness, self-care, preparing the nursery, and even what to pack for the hospital.

She has partnered with Karan Johar (an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter, costume designer, actor, and television personality who works on Hindi films), to release her 'Pregnancy Bible', which is said to be a guide for moms-to-be and which she considers her third baby. The mother of two considers herself a fussy mum in that she wants the best for her kids. Therefore, routines, safety, and being prepared are all things that make for great childhoods, in her opinion.

This is what she was captured saying in her recent affiliation with a company by the name of FirstCry, which is an e-commerce retail company that specialises in baby products. FirstCry is known as India's Largest Online Store for newborn, baby, and kids products.

When she was first asked about doing a 'tell-all' book, she said that it was shocking for those involved that she said that the only way she would do it is if she was allowed to be absolutely honest about her experience.

Traditionally, Indian cinema has mirrored the social beliefs of the country, in remaining conservative and approaching storylines that support the overall culture. However, over recent years, many things such as sexuality, pre-marital pregnancy, divorce, gender-based  violence, rape, crime, promiscuity, and so much more have become topics that fit into the films and these issues are addressed.

By cinema shining light on these kind of topics, it shows that there is some sort of progression in the film industry in India, and it is resonating with the people.

So it is with true invigoration that we see a book that openly talks about things that have traditionally been given a look of disapproval. It shows true growth and evolution when it comes to the Bollywood scene, as well as the communities of people that look up to these Bollywood stars.
