A 13-year-old girl tried out a trend on TikTok and had to be rushed to the hospital after complaining about tummy pains. Her mother, Faye Elizabeth, spoke about how her daughter, who she chose not to name, had placed magnetic ball bearings on either side of her tongue, to mimic having a tongue piercing.

According to Faye, her daughter said that all the kids were doing it. Not long after her daughter had tried the trend, she began vomiting and complained of stomach pain. Faye rushed her to the hospital and it was later discovered that the young girl had more than 10 of the ball bearings in her stomach, they had attached themselves to her appendix and part of her bowel.

The 13-year-old had to undergo emergency surgery and 15 balls were found in her body. Faye revealed that the balls were found on her appendix and therefore her appendix had to be removed.

According to Metro, Faye said: ‘They had to take part of her bowel away and re-stitch it. There was one stuck in her appendix so they had to remove that."

Her daughter is now left with a scar on her tummy just over 15cm in length and is recovering in hospital. When Faye asked her daughter about what had happened, she resisted at first because she was afraid.

"Apparently, she watched a TikTok video where there’s a trend that all the kids are doing at the minute. I haven’t actually seen it but she told me about it and a lot of other children her age have seen it," Metro reports.

Faye has warned other parents about the trend and the overall story, it just goes to show that sometimes no matter how attentive you are to your kids, they can end up getting hurt and it's outside of your control.

"I think parents need to be made aware of these magnetic beads as they’re very dangerous," Faye added.
