AI-generated dishwashing and sleeping Olympic videos go viral

Videos showing off cleaning dishes and sleeping Olympics have gone viral, confusing online users...
Household responsibilities, like washing dishes, can be tiring and unappealing to some, but they have gained traction in the AI world.
AI-generated videos have been going viral on social media channels since the beginning of October, following the launch of Sora 2, an AI video generator that produces high-quality videos.
The videos show several female athletes representing different countries, competing against one another in the 'Dishwashing Olympics'. Some of the videos include the words, "New Olympic event in 2028: Women's Dishwashing". Another one said: "Cleaning Dishes Olympics 2050".
Watch one of the videos below on Instagram that has over 73,000 likes.
The OpenAI video app, Sora 2, has reached a milestone, having reportedly surpassed one million downloads in under five days.
BBC reports: "OpenAI says the latest version of its text-to-video artificial intelligence (AI) tool Sora was downloaded over a million times in less than five days - hitting the milestone faster than ChatGPT did at launch.
The app, which has topped the Apple App Store charts in the US, generates 10-second-long, realistic-looking videos from simple text prompts."
While these stats might be impressive to some, the videos that have been circulating online since their launch have attracted much criticism.
Apart from these Olympic videos showing 'athletes' competing in mundane tasks such as washing dishes and sleeping, there are also videos featuring deceased celebrities. There are videos of Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur and even Robin Williams.

The videos may seem real, but the 'Sora' watermark is a firm giveaway that these are AI-generated.
