Cassper Nyovest is not impressed with fans throwing shade after he compared himself to Kanye West on Sway in the Morning.

The Mama I Made It rapper was the first South African to appear on the popular US radio show last week.

But while scores of fans flooded Twitter with messages of congratulations, especially after Cassper delivered an amazing freestyle, many caught feelings over a comment he made on the show.

Cassper told Sway he is known as the Kanye West of South Africa.

Even Ntsiki Mazwai, Twitter’s resident Shade Queen, labelled Cassper’s interview an embarrassment, slamming him for obsessing over American culture.

Cassper took to Facebook this week to say that his comments were taken out of context.

He also suggested that fans were expecting him to flop on the show, and he proved them wrong.

“People thought Cassper on Sway was gonna suck. They were like, ‘Cassper can’t rap’, which I always find funny because I came in this game raping… People thought, ‘okay were are going to watch the interview and Cassper is going to choke’… Man was I well mother f*cking prepared for that sh*t,” Cassper said in a lengthy live video post.

He added that the rap audience in South Africa “think they know so much, but they actually don’t even know that much about hip hop. They get excited for simple lines...”

And if you were shocked to hear that people refer to Cassper as the Kanye West of South Africa, he certainly has heard it enough times.

“I’ve been compared to Kanye so many times, so many times. Friends have said ‘yo, you remind me of Kanye’, ‘you like the Kanye West of South Africa’, but that’s not the point. Even when I filled up the Dome, Sizwe tweeting saying the production at Fill Up The Dome was better than Kanye's, but that’s not the point. The question was how important is America in Africa, or in South Africa. And I explained that it’s so important, it’s such a big deal, that they call me the Kanye West of South Africa… in South Africa, that is an actual compliment. So much that when I said it on Sway’s show, people were like, ‘you are lying’. For them it was such a big deal when you say you are the Kanye West of South Africa, you can’t even say that because for them Kanye is Kanye and you are Cassper Nyovest, because you are South African,” he said.

Cassper stressed that that is not the Kanye West of South Africa.

“Only now we are finding ourselves and our culture and we are proud of who we are, and that is why we can get a South African rapper on Sway in the mother f*cking morning, because I understand who I am right now. I am an African kid who has been influenced by western culture, so much that is was a compliment when somebody said, ‘you are the Kanye of South Africa’. But you can google my interviews where I say that I am not the Kanye West of South Africa, I am Cassper Nyovest
