Valentine’s Day revenge special!
Updated | By Staff Writer

It’s just 17 days to go until the commercial declaration of love (aka, Valentine’s Day).
The road most travelled is one of candle lit dinners (no, not because of load shedding) (well, maybe!) beds strewn with rose petals and sweet love love me do's.
However, if you are against all that and in fact harbour a deep seated hatred for the day as a result of a nasty ex - here is something to make your heart chakra come alive.
As part of a fund-raising initiative, a zoo in the USA is offering those unlucky in love the opportunity to adopt a cockroach or scorpion in the name of your ex.
Their ad reads:
VALENTINE'S DAY SPECIAL: When you think about the detritus of your love life this Valentine’s Day, consider adopting a Madagascar hissing cockroach for your ex.
In their words:
“Nothing says ‘I've moved on’ like adopting a giant cuddly cockroach in the name of your favorite ex. This Valentine's Day, if you care enough to send the very best, you'll choose our charming Madagascar Hissing Cockroach package. The Madagascar hissing cockroach is believed to be the only insect that can hiss. They are excellent climbers and can scale smooth glass, therefore popping up in the most unexpected locations. The hissing cockroach is one of the largest species of cockroach, reaching 2–4 inches at maturity, but as we all know, some cockroaches just never seem to grow up.
Your Adopt-an-Animal donation will be used to support these amazing insects and further the San Francisco Zoological Society’s mission to connect people to wildlife, inspire caring for nature, and advance conservation action. And with a little luck, this generous donation will release your bad love life karma so that you never have to encounter a cockroach again.”
According to the LA Times, you can send your former lover an adoption certificate with his or her name on it – along with a few plastic roaches in "a cute little red box.” (pictured, below)
I love the option of being able to send a notification! It gives 'creep' a whole new meaning!
Do you have an ex you would name a roach after?
