UKZN to get new student residences
Updated | By Portia Cele
The University of KwaZulu-Natal is one of four South African universities in line to receive funding from the Development Bank of Southern Africa for the building of students residences.

The DBSA says it is still finalising the terms of new loans and the process will be completed by the end of September.
Yesterday DBSA granted the Durban University of Technology a R90-million loan to build a student village on its Steve Biko Campus.
The DBSA's Tshepo Ntsimane says they are concerned about the shortage of affordable student accommodation at South African universities.
"There is about 195 000 student beds that are needed in the 22 contract universities. The student accommodation backlog in the country runs into hundreds of billions of rands and it will then have to be funded over a period of between 10 and 20 years," he said.
