A tragic weekend of goodbyes

It's been a hectic weekend in celeb-ville with sad news being the theme of the weekend.

The country was shaken at the news of the passing of Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere.

Tributes have poured in for Simba since Saturday morning.

I was lucky enough to have known Simba personally and he was one of the most gentle giants ever.

He was an extremely encouraging friend, and always motivated me to reach my full potential.

He was always ready to give you a shoulder to lean on and was full of wise, witty advice.

Simba, Mr Half Man, half amazing; you are gone too soon my friend.

But heaven needs its angels, so go on, go home.

South Africa was also shaken by the news of the passing of Prosper Mkwaiwa and Bujo Mujo. Mkwaiwa was a famous businessman and promoter and passed away on his way to hospital after comlaining of being hot. Bojo Mujo also passed away after a short illness. He was a music producer and club DJ best known for his hit Summer Rain.

Simba, Prosper and Bujo Mujo you will all be missed. Lalani kahle.

Then Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, was found face down in her bathtub in her Atlanta home on Saturday. She was not breathing. She was revived and taken to hospital where she was placed in a medically-induced coma. According to popular site TMZ.com tests have determined her brain function is very low and the signs are not good. Whitney Houston passed away of a drug overdose and Bobbi Kristina is no stranger to being in the news for substance abuse. It is obvious that the young lady is troubled and has had to deal with a lot in her young life.

Often one would think that becasue her mother died of a drug overdose, Bobbi would want to stay as far away as possible from narcotics but we all deal with situations differently.

Do you know of someone in a similar situation to Bobbi Kristina? How do you help them? How do you support a friend/family member who is self destructing?
